The Biological Archive
The Parnia Series investigates the concept of the “Somatic Cocoon.” In this collection, 100% natural silk is treated not as a luxury material, but as a biological witness to time and transformation. Just as the silkworm weaves its history and survival into a protective thread, these wearable objects function as external nervous systems for the wearer. The collection explores the parallel between the metamorphosis of silk from larva to thread and the way epigenetic memories are transmuted from invisible trauma into tangible, protective layers. Each piece, housed in a handcrafted willow wood vessel, represents a stage of “materialized silence.
From Ancient Looms to Cellular Memory
By centering the practice on the organic origins of silk, Arani connects the ancient Silk Road legacy with modern biological inquiries. This section of the work focuses on the “cellular intelligence” of natural fibers. The process of hand-weaving silk fabric and leather is a ritual of grounding; it is an act of reclaiming the slow, evolutionary pace of nature in a fast-digital world. By moving away from digital tokens (NFTs) toward the visceral reality of the cocoon, the project emphasizes that true “authenticity” lies in the biological trace the DNA of the fiber and the somatic memory of the hand that wove it.
